Dawn Knowles joined de Villars Jones in 1997. She earned her Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Regina and her law degree from the University of Alberta. She was called to the Bar in 1992.

After 24 years with de Villars Jones, Dawn has now retired.


A gifted legal writer, much of Dawn’s practice is focussed on academic and legal writing, legal research, and editorial work. She is

  • Assistant Editor of Administrative Law Reports
  • Co-author of the Administrative Law title in the Canadian Encyclopedic Digest
  • Co-editor of Annotated Surrogate Rules

Dawn is dedicated and passionate about helping clients who face difficult and stressful times in their lives, particularly when involved in estate and trust disputes.  She is actively involved with the Collaborative Estates and Trusts Lawyers Society.

Dawn is proud to be part of a firm that values family, compassion, and teamwork. A mother of four busy children, Dawn is an active volunteer with minor hockey and her community league in Edmonton.
